Applied Ergo Conference 2024
Ergo is alive and well, and on full display at this year's Applied Ergonomic Conference (AEC) in Louisville, KY!
There was just about every kind of ergo topic covered and exhibited that you can think of. Topics ranged from Keeping Your Workfoce Safe and Comfortable with On-The-Go Ergonomics, Ergo in a TikTok World, and Gamifying Your Ergonomics Awareness Program to AI Virtual Motion Capture Tools and Assessments. In fact, AI seemed to permeate the Ergo Presentations as well as on the exhibit floor, which is going to be a very interesting development to follow.
So many sectors were represented including the automotive, airline, and railroad industries, as well as food manufacturers, electronics, universities, climate and energy and tech companies. The attendees ranged from ergonomists, safety managers, EH&S directors, production line managers, insurance brokers, and physical and occupational therapists, to professors and students about to enter this field, which was wonderful to see. There were so many lively conversations that revolved around everyone's passion for helping people and finding new ways to navigate our post-COVID work world and innovative ways to keep everyone safe and feeling well on and off the job.
What was striking was the mix of traditional ergonomic practices (think posture, healthy movements, honoring what the body needs to function well) alongside new innovations like wearables and exoskeletons that help you perform your job with more ease, and AI-driven wearables and technology that identify risky movements and behaviors with data-driven reports to help identify and reduce areas of high risk.
The venue was awesome and Louisville is filled with great restaurants and fun spots like Whiskey Row and the Bourbon District. (Louisville is big on the bourbon!)
But the best part was being an exhibitor featuring the 2.0 version of our Ergo-Ally online self-assessment, training, and ergo program management platform and meeting people from all over the world with one common interest, to help people be their best.
It was truly an honor!
